We encourage you to take time to pray as you prepare for the upcoming Recruitment Weekend and dive into the process of pursuing the call of being a missionary disciple with FOCUS. Take time to get prepared with all of your packing, booking your flights, and preparation sheets. Be sure to utilize the preparation sheets found below.
Here’s a glimpse of the itinerary for your upcoming Recruitment Weekend.
The purpose of a Recruitment Weekend is to help you determine if God is calling you to live out this call through FOCUS. Our Recruitment Weekend takes you through a series of interviews, talks and activities that will help you discern the call.

Download you pre-Recruitment Weekend resources. Make sure you start reviewing these sheets so you are ready once your Recruitment Weekend dates come around.
First, we encourage every applicant to commit to daily prayer with our Lord, in order to hear where he is guiding you.
Please check out our Interview Preparation Sheets and the Character and Virtue Preparation Sheets the week prior to your Recruitment Weekend, so you can show up prepared and ready to share your testimony / experiences in your interview.
Check out our meditation packet. Here you can find a brief guide to discernment and different passages of scripture to pray with, with questions to guide you.
Come to the Lord in your discernment / decision making with a disposition of love. The Lord knows you deeply, and loves you deeply, and remembering that while making a big decision is important. It will give you freedom to know that God is on your side and working for your good, no matter what. Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart, and don’t be afraid to say yes to his plan for you.
There will be chaplains on the Recruitment Weekend who are available for spiritual advisement conversations. We strongly encourage you to sign up for a conversation when you get to your Recruitment Weekend. Leading up to and following the Recruitment Weekend, we also suggest you have conversations with a Spiritual Director. If you’re not sure how to find one, we suggest you ask the FOCUS missionaries on your campus, if you have them. If any of your friends have a Spiritual Director, you could ask them for guidance. Or, you can simply look around you, is there a priest / sister at your campus parish that you trust and could meet with?
By coming on a Recruitment Weekend, you are not committing to becoming a missionary. It is simply the next in discerning how the Lord is calling you onto mission, and seeing if that could be through FOCUS. After the Recruitment Weekend is over, within 2-3 weeks you will get a call from FOCUS with a final decision regarding a job offer.
Please start with your FOCUS missionaries on campus! They will be able to answer most questions. If there is a situation specific to you, please contact your Recruitment Manager.
